This course is one of four that make up the Portland State University Center for Executive and Professional Education Project Management Certificate, this course introduces project initiation and planning.  Upon completion, students will have gained the knowledge to: 

• Understand the two fundamental types of projects (plan-driven and change-driven) and their associated project management methodologies, and how to choose the right one for the project
• Identify and properly work with all project stakeholders;
• Evaluate project complexity and drive the selection of tools and techniques appropriately.

The course is delivered remotely, with a blend of virtual live sessions and self-paced activities.

Manage Project to Success.  This Portland State University Center for Executive and Professional Education self-paced course provides a comprehensive foundation for successful project management.  Twenty-three video modules cover essential topics, which are supported by illustrative examples and powerful tools.  You will become well-versed in Predictive methods, such as Gantt charts, and Adaptive methods, such as Scrum and Kanban.  This course will equip you with the vocabulary, practical applications, and confidence needed to successfully manage your next project.

 Nothing gets done in a project without people.  This course will teach you how to select, assign, train, direct, and motivate members of the project team so they are engaged in accomplishing the project results.  You will learn how to work with project team members to help them get interested in the project, apply their best skills, learn new skills, communicate well, and enjoy the project experience.
